Sneaky sneaky Vicious, wonder if she played a part in this little get together as well? And if so, why does she want Serenity to get a girlfriend so badly? Staying tuned!
Ah, Vicious, so manipulative. Not as sneaky as she thinks she is, though. Sera saw right through it. Sounds like our little witch didn’t care for being set up. Not that I blame her. It begins to reveal why Sera seems less enamored with V of late.
I guess that a more benign interpretation of V bringing Crawlsie in could be that V just wanted to provide Sera with someone who could answer questions about being gay and stuff? Like a mentor or something? Perhaps V felt that Sera just wasn’t responding well enough to V alone, so now she’s throwing various options at Sera to see what sticks? Not so much manipulation as exploration/investigation? If Sera won’t go into the world, V can just bring pieces of the world to Sera?
This is entirely possible and it is a possibility that occurred to me, but I dunno. Vicious has been giving me odd vibes this chapter. This situation screams of a set-up, even if her intentions are well-meant.
Jennifer Tilly possessed by the devil… like that.
Ah, but now you have me listening to that talk show thing with her talking to Craig Ferguson, reading this, and pretending their voices are Sera and Maddy talking. It’s rather FUNNY, I’d recommend it.
Yeah, I had to look up who Jennifer Tilly is (I rather fell out of popular culture a while ago, my TV isn’t even hooked up to anything except a video game system I don’t play) and I’m watching that same video trying really hard to imagine her possessed by the Devil, making a scratchy-raspy voice.
I just don’t quite hear it. For me I got a better impression of Sera’s voice from the first book, where that young lady asked for Sera’s autograph and told her her voice sounded like a child choking on a rattlesnake.
I wish I’d had someone try to describe Sera’s voice in Vol. 2. Could’ve been a fun recurring theme. “Like a Munchkin with a five pack-a-day habit,” “Zombie Smurf,” etc.
Nice! I had not truly noticed that. I’m used to seeing Sera look away during conversations, which is incredibly cute, and therefore garnered most my visual attention. To stare at someone without looking away is quite predatory!
There’s a lot of truth in what Maddy said. Things and people that inspire me tend to get me talking. Just last night I found out that Neil Gayman is working on a prequil to The Sandman. Shit, I couldn’t stop talking about it for a while!
I really like this min-arc, it’s so cute how Sera’s really facing something she’s afraid of but wants to do. She’s really getting stronger as a person.
And I just keep thinking that if either of them tries to make a move, Sera will need a step ladder to reach Maddy. Daaamn that girl is tall!
*actually laughed out loud and snorted at that one* *don’t look at me like that, I’m not ashamed of laughing, so there!*
And I laughed because you’re quite right and I really should have thought of that! ‘Spose height doesn’t matter when levitation is first-nature to you.
Bet her friends ask her to get stuff off the top shelf all the time, or the Frisbee from the roof. Though Sera doesn’t strike me as an athletic, Frisbee-playing type. Like, at all.
WHOA! way to use the word “dyke” all reclaimy and shit! i love it. can’t wait to see more of grown-up Maddy, Proud Gay Influence on Sera. i bite my nails til tuesday!
I was thinking at work last night, this story about Crawlsie suddenly showing up after Sera mentioned her possible orientation to Vicious puts Crawlsie’s reaction to the news of the debate in an interesting light. Both her “Puta madre!” exclamation and her strong insistence that Sera go through with it. It also adds emphasis to Sera’s disbelieving “Sure you didn’t” response to Crawlsie’s claim that she didn’t know Sera liked girls.

Seems like everyone has plans and ideas for our Sera! Except herself…
This conversation just keeps getting better and better and heading off into stranger and stranger directions! Maddy, keep Sera talking.

agreed. i spent the first two graphic novels thinking V was the next best thing to seedless watermelon. now, i’m not so sure.
i wonder if all those “vicious whispers” help-thingies went to her head an now she thinks she can solve everyone’s problems? (¬.¬;)
Y’know, now that I think of it, her advice about my zombie apocalypse dream really wasn’t even that useful!

Sera, Admiral Ackbar just called, said something about a tramp….
One day later:
Hmm, this was a really boring comment. What have i done?!? 🙁

Ah well, you can always save that running gag for the smash hit movie version, or possibly the TV series.
‘Mouse with a blender stuck in its throat.’
Sera looks sooo cute on the last panel :).
Heh. Maddy’s pretty much always got her eyes on Sera, where Sera’s eyes look just about anywhere but at Maddy.
Yaaay! I’m glad you noticed that, Phillipa.

nah she could just float up to her

The image I have in my head now of her floating up to kiss Maddy is insanely adorable.

i wonder who will ask first about the fight between the two of them?
Sera seems too shy and Maddy seems to be of mind to let the past be. …

Jennifer Tilly possed by the Devil…yep, her voice would have me wrapped around her finger.
