Wow. Kinda figured that the blonde witch would be part of or a conjure of Sera’s. I really like how eloquent this heart to heart has been over the these last two pages. Makes me think that really Merrick hopes to help Sera really. But it’s curious since if she goes to SSI and doesn’t meet with Vicious. She’s got a day left? or few? Hurm. I think things may not be what they seem and Merrick or others within the SSI still has it out for Sera but has some intention to wield the conjures or Sera herself as a anti witch weapon under lock and key and the needle and knife. – I look forward to future developments with barely contained zeal from the shadows. Spooky shadows… ooohhh ahh…meh. Sleep time.
I really, REALLY wants to trust Merrick… But I’m still iffeh on him. Methinks Sera should be leaving soon, though… Ms. Whisper would no doubt do wonders with helping Sera work through her problems, non?

@Nightsong: perhaps she gave the notebook to Scarsdale in order to try and get Sera mixed up in that less-than-wholesome crowd, Sera did like Rivet Hed in the past maybe her “dark half” still does. I can’t see her dark half being a big fan of Vicious, or of Sera’s decision to go all apprentice-y with her… blah blah blah pointless speculation.
@Blizzaird speculation is half the fun! If the Blond witch is out of Sera’s subconcious mind is she what Sera fears she could become, or is she what Sera in the deep dark recesses of her mind wishes she could be?
y’know, i have a hard time taking Sera’s theory seriously, except for a few things….. the way Skarz kept insisting the sketchbook just “showed up” on her desk? what if she *wasn’t* lying!?
an’ then there’s Sera’s cell phone…. it sure *looks* like the one Stilletta gave her – but why would she ever *keep* that one? unless it was already hers…..
…. does her “dark side” maybe want her to give up on cutesy-pie things shaped like hearts?
perhaps the Monsters of Matobo aren’t directly connected, but more like another example of similar phenomena to (eventually) make things clearer? and ooh, scary thot here, what if ol’ Willemina *was* a witch and couldn’t *really* have kids (like Sera said in AskV), but THOUGHT she could, and accidently fulfilled her own wish? (thus the “murdered” son)…. but then how would his *wife* be pregnant….. unless *that’s* a conjuration *too*, or maybe even his *wife* was a conjuration, special-made to be perfect for her imaginary son, untill Willemina realized something was wrong?
(or even something simple, like when the baby was born it *obviously* wasn’t his, and that somehow indirectly triggered Willemina to realize what she’d done?)
(come to think of it, Skarz did use a lot of “birth”-related metaphors when she talked about ‘Hed’s creations……)
I re-read the last few panels just to look at the spoon. XD This really is one of those comics where you can read the series 10 times and see something new each round.
