I think this is way way beyond flirting – mean, knifing, or otherwise. How many years has it been since the bus? How many years has Sera stuffed, repressed, tried to ignore the feelings associated with those memories of Mady. And now Mady has just opened her right up. Look at her eyes in the 4th and 5th panels. And Mady, all this time thinking about the “little puppy dog” who followed her around but would never protect her from her tormenters, till the bus incident. Who knows which way she’ll explode. I don’t think she does herself.
I’m most definitely “an old fart” but this is stirring up memories of unrequited love – unfulfilled sexual desire from my middle school days. Thank you Mr A, thank you
She’ll probably kiss her to disarm Serenity and then knife during the kiss. I wish I could be more optimistic, but she seems pretty hurt about witches in general, and she’s got a very personal reason to really hate Serenity. When you’re young, you’re generally wrapped up in your own pain, so she’d have to be older in my mind to have started thinking about Serenitys. This will be revenge against the only witch she can get her hands on, much as I wish it were different.
It’s the “that little letter of yours” comment that makes me most worried. She wouldn’t have said it like that if she respected Sera even a little bit.
I feel the same way. This could go either way. I can’t tell if Maddy is trying to flirt or trying to dig. The phrasing of “your little letter” sounds condescending, but it might not be intended as such. I’ve been on the edge of my seat for this whole exchange, but this page pushed me right off the edge. I can’t get a bead on Maddy’s motivation at all. I don’t think she is out to hurt Sera, but I could definitely see her using Sera’s feeling to manipulate her into something.
Sera looks so scared here. I feel for her. I am sure those are events she’d rather forget about. Whether Maddy intended to or not, she is opening up some painful wounds.
I agree. All the little details in the way Maddy has been speaking and acting have got me VERY worried. The ‘your little letter’, the hating on witches… Even the way she says ‘Serenity’ instead of ‘Sera’ here suggests she’s confident and playing with her; like she’s in control of the whole thing. I mean, that’s probably me just over thinking things, but when expose my emotions to people, I like to say few short words, not drag them out like Maddy’s doing. If she were being sincere about this I would expect her to be more nervous and talking more quickly.
I don’t like this whole situation, really.
jeez….you people…ok look…Maddy is not a witch…she has NO powers….and unless she strapped a bomb to her body or has a tiny knife hidden on her somewhere…i think the only danger Sera is in is being kissed…or some sort of emotional thing…Maddy is FAR more romantically/sexually experience than Sera and that is the scary thing about her…you guys watch too many action movies
I’m not worried about physical danger at all, never have been, but the title’s “Break Your Stupid Heart” and I think we’re juuuuuust about ready to see it happen.
You’re forgetting that Serenity chose to live in the last fight. While it’s true that if that’s her choice, Maddy can’t kill her with a bomb, much less a knife, but if she crushes her soul, say by seducing and then betraying her, eliminating the will to live, then a paperclip will do.
Either Mady is playing with her or being serious. I know that I’m scared for Sera, did you see her eyes in the 4th and 5th panels? She is ready to panic like no other. I know when people like to flirt around and say things that could come off as mean or offensive. But these mixed signals that Mady are giving off, poor Sera!
Ok Maddy’s playing some kind of game here and I don’t think that Sera is her target. more like a way to get to it. Maddy going to fuck with Sera’s head and heart, I’m sure of it!
I’m on the edge of my seat, worried about Sera and wondering what’ll happen next. Something’s HAPPENING at long last in this 17 pages & counting, running since September, date that never ends. I mean, even Sera’s long first meting with Vicious in the first book was 17 pages beginning to end, AND we found out what happened in the bus incident.
Sera and Tess are an enteraining example of a ‘BiPolar’ relationship. Sera is depressed to middle and Tess is middle to manic. Together they have a wonderful friendship, but they could never survive as a couple.
Only 1 in 10 relationships with a bipolar partner survives. Maddy and Sera is an impossibility, but Sera is blind with hope. Eventually, Maddy will leave and Sera will crash. But our girl is a survivor, as am I. You can probably sense I speak from personal experience.
Woo! This is gritty stuff, Aaron!
I love the art, the characters, the drama. I admire your continuity in such a lengthy endeavor.
Holy Crap! Shit just got serious!!
Aaand here comes the knife that everyone else predicted. Curse my optimism!
The panel layout here is excellent, feels really constricted and uncomfortable.
Aaaaaaaaaah next week next week hurry up and get here!
Hmmm cant quite tell if she is flirting or starting to get mean
You read my mind.
Or she’s doing both. I know some people who flirt mean.
Uncomfortable Serenity? I feel it too.

I agree! That’s a -nasty- way of saying it. Poor Sera!
Coyness is nice, and coyness can stop you from doing all those things in life you’d like to.
PANIC PANIC PANIC ARGH
This has got me really nervous, I have no idea whether to be terrified for Serenity or excited aahhh

thats right…but i think some people here think she is out to KILL Sera….i just dont see that happening.
of course she isnt going to be able to kill her even if she tried thought. what she appears to be doing is much much worse

basically what I was getting at.
I’m just going to go into a coma until next week, ok? I don’t think I can stand the wait.
Geeez, at this point I have no idea what is going to happen, Maddy has given us such a mixed bag of feelings in one night.
This is one of the greater pages by the way. I feel like I say that every second page, but gawd I mean it every time!

…what if it’s Sera that’s going to do the breaking?
“I don’t dream about you at all… not anymore.”
Oh god, that look in Sera’s face made me die a little inside. I have a feeling next week will be heart wrenching, either positively or negatively
Woo! Something interesting is going on!!!

Just refreshed the front page several times hoping it was next Tuesday enough to show a new comic. T_T guess I’ll go to bed.
Um, didn’t mean to reply to this o_o XD

Surprised no one has posted the “hiker monster” Maddy refers to:

Yuppers! That’s her all righty!
I love stories with strong internal consistancy!
Well, she’s totally evil obviously. I still have no idea what the conclusion could be!
