hmm, going down to go up. Talk about a private space out in the open. Mady is just amazing with her knowledge of the back doors and hidden passageways. But that’s how kids are. I had a friend who grew up in Los Alamos, he had some amazing stories about exploring the maintenance tunnels and such.
Now that would be more than a little bit interesting. But then why do witches use other forms of travel? Did Maddy & her friends find something the witch world had forgotten?
If the witches don’t want to go to one of the witch cities, they would still have to use an different method. Say if Sera wanted to go to London, the secret passage wouldn’t do her any good.
I think it is safe to say (or at least speculate) that, other than Valentine, none of the currently existing witches were alive back when these things were built. There is no reason why they would know the paths exist unless they discovered them on their own (or Valentine told them).
Lolz, someone should seperate those two! Not the Christian one though, remember how well the Crusades worked out…
It reminds me of Civilization IV where you could “found a religion” eh?
This statue reminds me of Vicious Whisper’s pose on page 11 – the euphoria of using magic? Perhaps the statue IS Vicious, in one of her former lives…
This has to be a flashback, the statue is from page 53, it’s in Califia, so I’m thinking we’re about to see how Maddy lost her fingers. Somehow I don’t expect it will play out the way she said it happened…
interesting thought…we’ve yet to see that machavelian schemer, mr. valentine — is it possible he’s the one pulling the strings here? or perhaps skarsdayle? or both?.
—————– “serenity rose: where conspiracy theories are the norm…” (O.o)
I’m kinda surprised nobody’s mentioned the first possibility I thought of… which is that, maybe, this is where Stilletta hid her eyeball and SHE’S BACK….
(It does seem like an odd moment for such a thing though, story-wise. So prolly not.)
Wait… you mentioning Stilletta and her missing eye has got me thinking. What if Valentine is behind this Maddy thing? Um, let me explain… Stilletta was a student of Valentine, correct? And she has a missing eye. Maddy has two missing fingers. Maybe Valentine helps people, but at the price of a part of them? So perhaps he’s behind this? I don’t know.
Personally, seeing the religious icon lanterns everywhere and it leading to a small cage out in the open, I’m wondering if it’ll somehow screw up Sera’s powers or make her defenseless and subject to possible abuse and ridicule as well as being on display by trapping her in there like some kind of bird. The entry can always be sealed off somehow. Getting her in there is all it would take.
Ooooooh! I’m enamoured with this amber effulgence!

It’s a flashback, the statue and the environment is the same as the one Maddy told about earlier. And looks like she still has her finger.
Naw, that’s her right hand (I think) she lost fingers off the left. Still, it’s in Califia not Crestfallen.
My god, you’re right!!!! :O
….I am unworthy to read this comic.
*commits Seppuku with a small pen*
It will be interesting if it is NOT a flashback and instead we find out that all the witch cities are connected via these secret passages.

That minaret is definitely not local to Crestfallen, look at the palm trees.
luv the muslim lantern (?) next to the hebrew one! (^.^)

Is it just me who has the feeling this flashback (?) is going to reveal something bad? Perhaps shed some light on Maddy’s motives?
Not just you.

I have a feeling maddy may be under something or someones influence at the moment so this may give us alot of interesting info.

Whelp time to wait another week. T_T

I’m finding it useful to always assume Valentine is behind everything. Maybe even the vampires in Victor Vogel’s basement!
