what gets me is how Sera just blindly follows along despite the weirdness of the conversation, the weirdness of the setting (not many places in her own town she doesn’t even know exist afterall..or so she thought), and the fact that someone who hasn’t seen her since school years is now ferretting her further and further away from all sight?
Now I know all to well how an old crush can bring up feelings you thought long long buried in the past. And Maddie was Sera’s only crush that we know of, therefore, I suppose she is wearing her Rose colored glasses and just -that- hopeful something positive is about to happen between them. Which makes her even more vulnerable. Which makes ME all the more worried.
She’s a 20-something without a single relationship in any sort of way. It may sounds stupid but I can really understand people acting stupid in that situation, you simply lack the social experiance to pick up the warning singals.
If she survives she will know better next time. 😉
Maddy’s expression in panels 5 and 6 has me concerned. She is waiting for Sera to drink, seems to be peer-pressuring her to do it. The look in 5 comes across to me as “well, aren’t you going to drink it?” like she is silently goading her into it and her expression in 6 looks satisfied like, “good, she drank it.”
So the ‘catacombs’ aren’t secret, Sera’s been there before. But this particular entrance is secret! Handy!
Yup, Maddy’s a woman with a plan, she’s on a mission! To do what? Could be something good…
So only that bird has a crown? Interesting! Is it a mechanical method to oped the ‘door’ or magic-related?
Sera is a big girl and can take care of herself… hopefully. I’m sure that there is some kind of surprise coming, A. probably has something up his sleeve to throw us all off like usuall.
hey, i think i figured out how this witch thing works! there’s only 50 in the world at any one time, right? and when one dies, the next kid born is a witch, right? well, what makes that kid a witch are these special genes called, “midi-chlorians”! yeah! and what maddy is doing here is leading sera down the path to becoming a bad witch…an evil witch…a, shall we say, *dark* witch. i’m sure maddy understands that, “Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering,” and is attempting to turn sera to the dark side of witchcraft! oh no! (^.~)

The suffering! Why must we wait so long! I even bought the other 2 books to subside all of my excitement! But yet here we are with old faces and new events! All of this is ever so amusing but also confusing! Watching Sera go through all of this is just a amazing story! Yet we must wait weeks at a time to see what happens next! GAH! I’ll just read the other books until then.
It’s funny when you idealize someone from a long time ago, then you meet that person again and realize the person is horrible. I do have to wonder if that’s really Maddie though. Either way what’s going on here is definitely creepy.

Peer-pressure: It’s subtle but powerful!
That first swig of booze affects you the most, eh?
It’s especially powerful when the peer applying the pressure is someone to whom you are attracted.
