If so Sara will die of shame when Maddy sees her freaky dream-cast hotties (or did the evil blonde witch make them from images stolen from Sara’s dreams?). Would be cool if she reverts to the tiny chibi thing she was in the first book.
Nah, those are her dream conjurings. You can tell by the colour. Stilletta’s ectoplasmic creations were not green. And if you’ll remember, they obeyed Sera’s commands at the end and captured Stilletta.
I’m pretty sure that “tiny chibi” thing she “was” was just they way Aaron drew Sera at the time. She didn’t change. Aaron just started drawing her differently.
Caves tend to be big, and if it is Sera’s cave there’s about 15 years worth of nightmares, spookiness and wet dreams in there, it would take days or even weeks to explore the whole thing. I’m pretty sure that no sane person would want to do too much poking around in that.
I do like the idea that it might be something to do with the villain, whoever that might be.
It could be that SSI couldn’t get everything out. They have some very neat tools, but even so I imagine there might be some things they just can’t do. So maybe they just sealed off the cave, a kinda lock the door and throw away the key approach.
Although didn’t Sera mention at the end of the second book that SSI clearing out that cave? It could be a second similar cave. If thats so maybe it’s not Seras dreams?
Oh my. This is crazy nerve-wracking. Wouldn’t “that cave” still be crawling with SSI? Wouldn’t they have investigated if it had other access points? But, I don’t know what other cave it could be that would be calling Sera’s name. eeeeek
*that* is a very good point…the cave should be crawling with SSI…which now begs another complex question: is Maddy working with the SSI? (O.o;)
*eep*
(PS: *love* how the word ballons are all dark and then, when the ecto-illuminations kick in, the ballons go back to being white. AA sure knows how to set a mood!)
It is interesting to know that Maddy was familiar with Sera’s cave, there one where she went to get away from it all. There are all kinds of implications suggested by that. Was Maddy ever there at the same time as Sera? Sera used to fall asleep there sometimes. Did Maddy know that? Or is it just coincidental that they both knew about this cave separately?
I thought Maddy had never been there before? And now she remembers the route by touch?
So that whole build-up was just for show. Now we’re entering the “cavern of dreams” and Sera’s old friends?
Interestinger and interestinger.
She had never been to the top of the spire. She has been to the make-out cave. She said she was the only one who ever had the courage to enter the small dark tunnel leading out of the make-out cave.
I took “I’ve heard urban legends” about what’s inside the tiny cave as meaning she hadn’t been in there! If she HAD been in there already, why believe the urban myths? She already knows! The way the rest of that page (75) is written? I suppose it could mean she was the only one who entered, but idk what that “I’ve heard…” part is about then.
It’s obvious at this point she HAS been there before!
I’m thinking this is a “part of” Sera’s dream-cave where some nightmares still reside…
I think she was just making a point that back in high school other people were scared to go in there but she wasn’t. Basically she is saying, “There were all kinds of urban legends, but I know the truth. Come, let me show you.”
I think she is trying hard to impress Sera. which I don;t think she needs to do at all. Sera is smitten already.
I’m coming to terms with that idea, that Maddy meant she’d heard the stories, but she went into the hole anyhow. It does make sense that way after all.
And she for sure has something “extra special” for Sera… just around this corner…
(Is it Tuesday yet?)
As long as we’re making wild speculations, I’m not quite so sure that we’re about to see Sera’s cave. I’m hoping we’re about to see something new…. new to us at least. As for why it would be calling to Sera, a lot the witchy stuff seems to be inter-connected, and if it’s something old from, say, the crestfallen, it could be something else is expecting her. Folks keep bringing up stiletta, but Let’s not forget about Valentine. There have been numerous inferences to the fact they he may have been one of the original crestfallen, and in my opinion, could possibly be what’s his face- cant remember the name- but the guy depicted by the statue in town square. If tha’s the case, his plans can be older and farther reaching than most people suspect. Remember that the clock has started again, and many old things in the town have “woken up” so to speak, and frankly, from a story telling perspective, it seems odd to mention how bittercurve has disappeared multiple times but thennever bring the actual sea monster into the story. Pair that with the waking town and who knows, maybe thats what is waiting for Sera. Sera’s fight and the apearence of Valentine are certainly linked to theclock starting. If Valentine is who i think he os then it seems reasonable to suspect that he is directly responsible for all the recent happenings. My guess is that the sea serpent has awoken and is expecting “sssssera” and this might have something to do with what Valentine is planning. Maddy just may be an unwitting pawn. Either way showing Sera a sleeping serpent would be a pretty big secret, and i would definetly think that it would be worthy of this build up. Eh, just talking outta my ass really, and fairly dis jointedly at that. Sorry if this makes no sense what so ever. Long story short, i think maddy knows what is down here, and its bittercurve. She kept it to herself because shes secretive like that, and/or this is a small part in whatever Valentine is up to, because let’s face it, he seems like a pretty obvious main antagonist.
i think you are potentially right? except that i associated the clock restarting with sera calling crestfallen HER town, like the clock stopped when valentine/whatshisface left and disowned the place, and started again when sera claimed it. so, things are reacting to her – i think any plan of valentine’s would be more subtle than “i’mma just start shit up again”, for example. i mean, i’m hard pressed to believe that he had ~no idea~ what stilleta was doing while he was ~away~
Oh, I didn’t mean to imply that waking up the town WAS Valentine’s plan, only a part of it. I wrote the above on an e-reader, and it can be kinda finicky.. ie. I can’t always see what I’m typing when a text box is involved, so re-reading what I wrote and editing it to make it make sense can sometime not be an option.
I must be one of very many, but I just wanted to say that I found this website yesterday and have, over the course of a night’s frantic reading, become very much attached to this comic of yours. Just… thank you for making this a real thing. And thank you for giving me something to dream about.
I think anyone who’s read the second book knows where they’re heading towards…
Yup. I think it’s another entrance to THAT cave.
If so Sara will die of shame when Maddy sees her freaky dream-cast hotties (or did the evil blonde witch make them from images stolen from Sara’s dreams?). Would be cool if she reverts to the tiny chibi thing she was in the first book.

If this is the dream cave, then it adds a new angle to the “How often did you dream about me?” from page 70.
A subterranean emanation of a sinister susurration.

Ahhhh!!! The tortures of waiting another week!
I want to frame every page of this book on my wall
Is that a brand-new banner at the top? Or has it been there for weeks and I just didn’t notice it?
Looks GOOD!
Yeah, it’s been there a good two or three weeks. I like it too.
