Oh dear. Is that (in the background in panel 2) the same painting that tried to eat Merrick, i.e. the one that seems to echo Sera’s emotions? Seems she’s having qualms about Dear Leader V as much as some of us readers are…
PUTA MADR-! “Whore mother”? Argh, can’t wait until next week to see what she’s reacting to!
The tail of that speech balloon is pointing toward the head of the woman with the tattooed arm. Or at least pointing to where the head would be if it was in the panel.
Why must we assume that “the woman with the tattooed arm” isn’t Tess? Assuming that those flowery things are even tattoos… plausible guess & all, but at an angle like that it’s intentionally hard to be sure.
Ockham’s Razor. There is a person already established to be in the room, on that side of Sera, with tattoos like those on her right arm and wearing a sleeveless black shirt. No reason to assume that Tess materialized there, with new tattoos, to swear in Spanish.
Because it can, you know, change form and try to eat people (or dance), but not change color. Logic! ๐
Guess I’m just not sure how else to interpret the V-caricature. Seems like it’s occupying the same space in the living room, and the chain coming off the bottom left corner looks the same too. If it was a thought-caricature or memory or something, those are usually in pop-out panels, not backgrounded. So if not formerly-blue-paint-man, then what?
I am guessing that is Tess. Whenever there is random screaming, particularly if it involves profanity, there is a strong statistical likelihood that it is Tess.
Interesting that Sera is interpreting it as a date. Wishful thinking, maybe?
Oh wait, duh, not Tess. Geez, Vex, pay attention to the pictures. That makes me all the more curious about the reaction. Is she upset that Sera has a date? Or is something completely unrelated happening off-screen that just coincidentally happened at the same moment? I eagerly await next week’s installment, as always.
so strange…the ways V has been portrayed in all three stories…early on she was seen as kind of a wise mentor…someone to look up to…the painting now suggests that Sera is getting kind of fed up with V…like she views her as a pompous windbag….”blah, blah, blah, blah”
hmm, if it’s not Tess who just walked in, I would say it’s the baby siter, because of the tattooed arm. Sera thinks she “might” have a date…vely intelesting
Goodness, I go away for a few weeks and this is what I have come back to. You are destroying me… I thought we were going to meet Maddy in book 2… and I was so excited for it and now I am just freaking out. I will try to keep my imaginary version of her away for now so I can get into the actually character. You go on that date Sera! I’m rooting for you!

I ‘spect you’re thinking of “Blue Paint Man”. Which is blue. So, no. ๐
Are you trolling? ๐

And apparently my reply ended up replying to the wrong post. Oh well!

So it’s a date now, Sera? Getting a little ahead of yourself aren’t we? ๐
ยกOh, ese lenguaje!

Wait, WHY is it not Tess? I’m thinkin’ it’s Tess…
The tattoos match up with V’s assistant. Tess’s tats are different.
Obvious forshadowing from the name of this series aside, I really hope this works out for poor little Sera.
