Maybe she put it out in there? I dunno. Perhaps all will be revealed in time. We’ve been slowly getting more and more of that story.

I must say, I *love* the mythology of Crestfallen. I’d love to see a whole book of your ideas for the town (impossible I know). Barring that can I just have a memory download of your brainnnnnsssss?

Why, hello there Altan. Good to see you again.

Mr. A is giving us a ton of delightfully nuanced backstories here.

..They are deeper than the deepest part of the bottom of the oceans?

The cause of Sera’s breakdown seems more apparent. I always thought her note got exposed and she was made fun of. Perhaps the little bus trip was in defense of someone else. The breakdown seemed to be the realization of how much harm she could cause when she did “anything”. And as for whether she set it on fire or drowned it, something tells me she did both plus a $hitl0@d.

My guess is that it means that the region of the forest is 8 miles deep.

That, or, um, magics? Yeah, it may need a change. A mile is pretty deep in and of itself.

i’ve always gathered that the bus was not lit on fire, but that what we saw was ectoplasm. -thus also assisting the hovering of the bus. on that subject, i don’t believe ectoplasm can be heated- that being one of it’s properties, that it is either lukewarm, or cold (ex.- ghosts and spiritual manifestation) but, it is already fact that ectoplasm manifests from the emotion and imagination of the user, so to see it represented as fire as viewed from this standpoint would say that the ectoplasmic fire therefore personified the rage and emotion of sera, her anger and frustration.

on a sidenote, to my knowledge, aaron has not defined whether witches in his world can set people and things on fire.

another comment- stop me if i’m wrong, but wasn’t it dante or someone who said that hell is within our earth and that it starts a certain ammount of miles down? it would be pretty hot at 8 miles.
-frank black said in monkey’s gone to heaven that if man is five then the devil is six, and if the devil is six then God is seven. So, if God is seven, does that mean eight is what he has damned? sorry for the philosophising… don’t mean for a debate- just pondering out loud…

    This is deep $#!t.

The opening panel just hits me somehow.

I can’t wait to see how our own little Sera caused a horrible accidient out here in the Doldrums.

    Can’t wait, Mistuh Aaron!

Amazing work as usual. Lots to think about considering the bus incident, but on a different note: I absolutely love Mr. A’s renderings of the forest. I am reminded of when i used to stare at page 8 of SR #1, when Sera flys Mary Ann to school. I just can’t help but wish all of my walls were covered with an Aaron A forest.

I thought the “total lack of life” was more magicky than the “8-mile deep” thing…

Wow, I always loved your artwork, Aaron, but it’s improved so damn much since the first comics. . .I can;t believe the changes. You have serious talent. And I have serious envy.

I thought Dante said that Hell was cold because it was without the light of God?

I could be, probably am wrong… anyway!

I keep coming to this site over and over, not only because it’s in my links toolbar, but everything keeps growing.
The storytelling is more complex than ever, which makes my mind wander with possibilities. The artwork has always been very inspirational and glorious, if you didn’t think it was possible for the drawing and such to be more so… ha ha! wrong – It had developed and gotten better! Sera’s eyes in this panel are hauntingly determined. I’m a sucker for goggles and eyes – ((yay this comic has both!)) – She says she stuck a bus in here, I think she’s downplaying her incident. It’s not about the incident right now…or is it!?

    I’m so excited!!!
